Even Dorothy is surprized that Margaret has left the pier and gone home! Contact Margaret the usual way: telephone, email, call for a visit.

Celebration on the Pier
Taking Time for a little Kazoo Celebration. Margaret and Ken send special thanks to the Heatherbrae 2nd Grade Team. Margaret says, "my husband and son brought this box over on my birthday, and I've been having a lot of fun with all this stuff." P.S. Ken figured out quickly that the box had to have been wrapped by the 2nd grade teachers because they tied, the bow just like "shoes are tied on a 2nd grader!"
Happy Birthday Margaret!

Day 13-14- Time for some hemoglobin
Hemoglobin is a protein-based component of red blood cells which is primarily responsible for transferring oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. Hemoglobin is actually the reason red blood cells appear red, although oxygen-rich blood is noticeably brighter than the depleted blood returning to the heart and lungs. Fresh hemoglobin is produced in the bone marrow as needed.

Day 11 & 12- Platelet Transfusion
Today Margaret had a platelet transfusion, a platelet is responsible for clotting. It is an irregular, disc-shaped element in the blood that assists in blood clotting. During normal blood clotting, the platelets clump together (aggregate). Although platelets are often classed as blood cells, they are actually fragments of large bone marrow cells called megakaryocytes.
