Empty rooms to maximize the cleaning

The folks at The Top Hatter did a great job cleaning the carpets. The owner's daughter was also a bone marrow transplant patient at The City of Hope clinic.

For years I have listened to the Phoenix-area news radio station KTAR. One of the many local firms that advertised on air was The Top Hatters, which specialized in cleaning air conditioning ventilation systems. The owner was a retired pro hockey player and he would be heard in the commercials carrying on a dialogue with his adult daughter, who also worked for the family business. She came up with a goofy jingle that was effective, because years later I can still hear it:

"If your ducts are dirty
and they're all all clogged up,
just call the Top Hatters
and we'll clean them up!"

So when I was told that Margaret could not return home until our AC vents had been professionally cleaned, I contacted the Top Hatters.

It turns out that the daughter in the commercials had also been a bone marrow transplant patient back in 2000. Unfortunately, she passed away in 2005, which explained why I had not heard those folksy commercials for the last couple of years. But her co-workers and family really understood when I said that the ductwork and carpet cleaning had to be done ASAP so there would be no delay in my wife being discharged from the City of Hope BMT clinic. They understood 100%.

This sounds like a commercial testimonial, I guess. But it was great to have professional service from people who understood exactly what our family is going through.
