The Latest Respiratory Challenge

Today Margaret had another chest x-ray & CT-Scan done to check her lungs. Yesterday she had congestion and some difficulty breathing. Checks of her blood oxygen levels showed that she needed more O2. So she is receiving supplemental oxygen during the daytime. Last night, she had to wear an oxygen mask but found it difficult to sleep with it on. The repiratory team is checking her lungs out carefully today, to determine further treatments.

Some good news: Margaret's white blood cell count is rising, a possible indicator that the bone marrow transplant has been successful. Counts of red blood cells & platlets are still rather low, however.

I went to school with Ken and his sister, Rhonda, and have been following in this trip of Margaret's. My husband, Russ, has a progressive neurodegenerative disorder and we just had to bring him home this week due to the military insurance not wanting to pay anymore for his nursing home care. Our journey has been long and it is so great to follow along with yours and see how well you are doing Margaret. I hope I get to meet you someday because you are an inspiration to me with your spirit and courage. "People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within." --Elizabeth Kubler Ross
I love this quote very much and when I read about you, it comes to mind each and every time. What a great person you are and what a wonderful family you have. Hang in there, let that little light of yours shine!

What a beautiful quote Sherry, thank you for sharing it. Margaret has been my friend almost 40 years, and she is truely a beautiful person, with a glorious spirit and light.
